"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes,
but in seeing with new eyes." - Marcel Proust

This project is one of several that Walking the Land artist's undertook for the Arnolfini Gallery's '100 Day Countdown' initiative that marked events in the lead up to the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Walking the Land's project focused on the River Severn which was chosen because of proposals to construct a capital project in the form of a huge power generating barrage. Thus the River is one of the potential casualties of our attempts to reduce carbon emissions.
The process and discipline of committing to 100 days of making the works resulted in walks that were made wherever I happened to be, but with the intention of not making unnecessary journeys. Each day I made a new piece that was produced and recorded as a result of a series of 100 slow, meditative paces which, use some of the movements and internal disciplines of Tai Chi and Xi Kung.  Each 'walk-work' was accompanied by text that recorded details of weather and location as well as my response - then shown as a daily blog.
Images are now being shown in 'tidalSevern' upstairs at the George gallery in Newnham on Severn
